  • Sabula is the only Iowa town on an island.
  • Norma Duffield Lyon (Duffy Lyon), a dairy farmer and sculptor from Tama County, has molded the butter cow for many years at the Iowa State Fair.
  • William Bettendorf invented the power-lift sulky (two wheeled) plow, which was immediately adopted by 80% of plowing manufacturers.
  • In 1912, the first county Farm Bureau in Iowa was organized in Clinton County.
  • James "Tama Jim" Wilson, came from a farm near Traer to serve as the Secretary of Agriculture under three presidents.
  • Herbert Hoover from West Branch was the thirty-first president of the United States and the only one from Iowa.

  • Center Junction was so named because it was the geographic center of the county and was supposed to be the junction of two railroads.
